At St Mary's School of Dance, students have the
security of the same teacher throughout their training -
me! I have a love of children (I have four of my own), a passion
for teaching (with 30 years experience) and total devotion to my
school.
I learnt ballet as a child
in Oxford at the Tetlow Hulme Ballet Studio.
Later as ‘Head
Student’ I often helped out with teaching the younger
children, which is where my love of teaching began. After
dancing professionally for a short time, including a season
with the Hellenic Dance-Drama Company in Greece, I trained as a teacher
at the College of the Royal Academy of Dance.
Here I gained my Teaching Diploma and Licentiate, and my degree
from the University of Durham. I also hold Associate membership
of the Imperial Society Of Teachers Of Dancing and
the International Dance Teachers Association.
I taught in Athens for several years before getting married
and returning to Oxford.
I founded St Mary’s School of Dance in 1986.
I regularly attend courses to maintain continuous
professional development, as recommended by the examining
bodies.
